LOOKING FOR A HOME - RITA
Adoption Application Form

Fosters with happy homes

You’ve got to love her for her ears, if nothing else!!!

11/30/07

Rita was spayed on 9/20/07. She has been treated for heartworms on 10/11, with Dr. Sims at N. Elm Animal Hospital.
She has been made good recovery, spirit undaunted. She was tested on Dec. 15th and declared officially heartworm free! She is doing great. She needs a family! There is an adoption fee.
I took her to an adoption fair in Greensboro Nov. 15th. There were over 50 dogs there! Rita behaved quite well in a room crowded with dogs and people, with many folks, including children of all ages, coming up and petting her. No takers, but we’ll try, try again!

What an athlete! She needs to belong to an energetic family. Look at those muscles!

Several fine people have made donations to help with her medical care.

When & Where: Appeared in our yard on 8/18/2007 in Climax, NC
What
: Female,  Boxer/Ger. Shepherd/Chow.  60 lbs. Good condition, strong & lively. 1 - 2 yrs. old.
How
: She has a happy spirit, is very affectionate and in good condition, loves people, wants to be part of a home. Fine with other dogs, cats. No aggression issues. She is good on a leash, can “sit.” She is housebroken.

The Story:
After learning she had heartworms and no response from former owners, (who surely dumped her) I decided she should be euthanized.  I couldn’t bear to take her to the pound so I took her back to the vet. The charge was over $100, including disposal of the body. As I was speaking to the receptionist, the dog was licking my face, sitting on my feet, and looking up at me with those big brown eyes. I couldn’t go through with it and took her back home (I admit, in tears.)      She is such a sweetie; I can’t stand the thought of a death sentence for what irresponsible people didn’t do to her. I can’t keep her since I already have a "Full House" - two dogs and three cats. But she will be a great dog for someone!

Special Note: Due to the overwhelming response, after listing Rita on a couple of websites, from internet scammers, I will state plainly that this dog, a mixed breed, lives in North Carolina. I will not respond to any e-mails that offer to pay for shipping her to California, Florida, Sweden, or anywhere else. I will not consider adopting her out to anyone I cannot meet in person.
